Vending Machine Cafe

Step into a nostalgic corner of Japan where the warm glow of vintage vending machines cuts through the dim atmosphere of a late-night café. This scene was inspired by the old-school vending machine corners often found at Michi no Eki (道の駅)—Japan’s roadside rest stops. These humble stations, with their rows of aging machines and quiet, utilitarian charm, serve as cozy waypoints for travelers looking for a quick meal or a moment of rest. I wanted to capture that same feeling of discovery and comfort in this piece.

This 3D environment was originally created as a fully realized setting for one of my YouTube ambience videos. In that video, this space comes to life with subtle motion, soft lighting, and ambient sounds that evoke the experience of visiting a lonely rest stop café in the middle of the night. You can find the video on my channel, where I create nostalgic ambience loops.

Every element in this scene was carefully modeled and textured to evoke warmth and quiet history—from the worn vending machines to the flickering black-and-white TV playing classic anime. Modeled in Blender and rendered in Cycles, this artwork is part of an ongoing series where I explore atmospheric spaces that blend nostalgia with storytelling—whether as still images or immersive video experiences.
